The phone rang while I was finishing cooking our Christmas dinner. We had so much left over that day and I decided to cook fried rice. I love fried rice; my maid will always say “fried rice again?” every time she asks me what I want for lunch or dinner lol. Dad hanged up the phone after a few minutes and told me I will be judging for a Singing Contest in an hour. He is a favorite judge when it comes to singing competitions in my province. I guess they already know Dad is a fair judge. He is a brilliant singer himself and was respected by his awesome stage performances and range during his band days. He was quite popular in my province and when it comes to singing everybody knows Joe Tomada. Anyway, it was a Grand Finals sponsored by Boy Vasquez and his daughter Angela (a fantastic singer).
A 9 year old and the only male contestant won the Grand Finals. His delivery of the song was impressive and I thought they are better singers during my contest days. The winner received cash and some goodies and I was asked to announce the Grand Champion.
What a great way to end year 2008! I was able to finish the year judging a singing contest and best of all; I had the honor to judge together with my mentor and inspiration, my father.
